iPhone is disconnected, connect to iTunes - what to do
Today smartphones have become an essential part of our lives, and they are the repository of important information: personal photos, e-mail correspondence, access to bank cards and social network accounts. Apple developers have provided enough ways to protect it, but most often they use the one that requires a password to unlock the screen. If you forget it, there will be no unpleasant surprises. Sometimes you are given time to remember it, but it can also happen that the notification "iPhone disconnected, connect to iTunes" pops up on the screen immediately.
The reason for the error
It is hardly worth trying to pick a password experimentally. After a few attempts, you will get a temporary warning that the number of requests has been exceeded, followed by locking your device. Naturally, this system was designed for security, so that intruders can't guess your password in this way. With the advent of new iPhones equipped with a fingerprint scanner, this problem is virtually non-existent. There is no need for the user to remember a password and enter it to unlock the screen. This is done automatically by fingerprint. But what to do if there is no such function, and you can't remember the password, or the device accidentally fell into the hands of children, and they unknowingly brought the phone to the lock state.
Do not despair, there are several ways to solve such a problem.
Solution via iTunes
This method can be used when the lock occurs by accident and you remember the password. The algorithm is as follows:
- Download and install the iTunes application on your PC;
- Connect the gadget to your computer with the original cable and start iTunes;
- Sometimes these actions are enough for iOS to allow you to enter your password again. If it doesn't, you should continue;
- In the program window, click the icon of the displayed device and click "Synchronize";
- After that the synchronization process will start, which should be stopped immediately. To do this, just close the window.
Now that you've regained access to your iPhone, you've got some number of password attempts.
There is one important thing to consider. The method works only when the PC is already tethered to the phone. If the connection to the PC is made for the first time, then the program will ask if it is worth giving access to this device. The action must be confirmed from the iPhone screen, but since it is locked, it will be impossible to do so. Therefore, you will have to solve the problem in another way.
Unlocking via Find iPhone
If the "Find iPhone" service is activated on your device, you can get rid of the "iPhone disconnected, connect to iTunes" message and remember your password with a remote reset. This function allows you not only to track your gadget, but also to delete information from it.
In this case, you can reset the iPhone password from any device connected to the Internet. To do this, just log in to the cloud storage iCloud and authorize using the ID to which you have been tethered.
Next, in the "All Devices" tab, select the device where you want to reset the password. In the window that opens, click "Erase iPhone" and confirm your actions.
Not only the "iPhone disconnected, connect to iTunes" message will disappear, but also all the information from the mobile device. However, it is possible to restore your iPhone from a backup or set it up as a new one.
Restore from a backup version of the device
If you are in the habit of creating backups, the task is greatly simplified. In the case of a rollback, most of the information is preserved. You can restore your iPhone using the backup function. To do this, connect your mobile device to your PC via a USB cable and run iTunes. If you are prompted to enter the password for this service, you must do so.
Now go to the "Overview" tab. Scroll down to "Backups" and click on it.
Create a backup copy and save it to your computer's memory.
Unplug the iPhone from the computer and turn off the power. Close the iTunes program.
Now you need to reconnect to your computer and run the application.
On the mobile device, press and hold the power and home buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds.
Release the Home key. iTunes should now detect your device, which has been connected in recovery mode. Then the "Restore" button will appear on your computer screen.
The operation can take a long time. It depends on the performance of both devices, the settings and the limited amount of internal memory.
When the procedure is complete, start the iPhone in normal mode with iTunes turned on, and in the program menu, select the last saved copy and download it. Keep in mind that this will also take quite a bit of time.
The latest versions of iOS in a locked state cannot create backups, and you will only have to use a saved copy to restore.
So make backups just in case.
iTunes does not recognize the iPhone
Sometimes when you connect your iPhone to your computer, iTunes does not recognize it and Windows gives you an error code, which may be accompanied by text information. This happens most often when the iOS firmware does not match the iTunes version. App seems to be out of date, and the latest update has not been installed. You should check for updates and download the latest version.
In addition, you need to forcibly reboot the phone to eliminate internal software errors. After that you can try to restore it again.
If none of the methods worked, the iFunbox utility can help reduce the loss of data. With its help, you can copy photos and video files, even if access to the device is lost. Therefore, save everything that you can save, and then you need to do the following actions:
Launch iTunes. Since there is no access to the iPhone, there is no way to reset the information through it. So we connect it to the PC and find it in the program window. After that, click "Restore iPhone. The recovery process will begin, after which the device will be returned to its factory settings and all personal data will be deleted.
In order not to complicate your life and get rid of such problems in the future, there are a few simple rules that should be followed:
Such locks are created precisely for your security, so do not rely on your memory, even if it seems that the password is simple, and write it down.
Do not give your phone to strangers or children. The iPhone is not a toy and costs a pretty penny, and locking it is not the worst thing that can happen due to negligence.
Do not be lazy and constantly create backups, it will save many problems in the future.
Synchronize your iPhone with your computer, even if you don't need to. In the event of a lockout, you'll have a better chance of regaining access.
If you follow the simple rules, the message that the iPhone is disconnected and you need to connect to iTunes will seem like a minor annoyance and will not grow into a big problem.
