How to turn off the iPhone if the screen does not work
Every piece of equipment fails from time to time. Gadgets from the famous Apple corporation, despite their high quality and reliability, are also not immune to glitches and failures. To the most unpleasant, perhaps, should be attributed hanging sensor, when the iPhone can not turn off if the display does not work. Most often this happens when installing an application or as a consequence of physical impact. You should not immediately run to the service center, in 90% cases the problem can be solved yourself.
In normal mode
All owners of these devices know how to turn off the iPhone in the usual way. It is done as follows:
- Press and hold the lock button for a few seconds.
- Two switches appear on the display: one at the bottom and one at the top of the screen. One of them turns off the power of the device, and the other one cancels the operation.
- Swipe the top panel to the right and wait for the gadget to turn off.
But not everyone knows how to turn off the iPhone in non-standard situations.
In reboot mode
If there is no possibility to turn off the smartphone in the usual way, a hard reset will help to bring the frozen sensor back to life. To do this, you need to simultaneously press two keys: "Power" and "Home" and hold them until the logo appears, about 5-7 seconds. In a few seconds after that you will see the desktop of your favorite gadget.
On iPhone 7 models instead of "Home" hold the volume down button.
If one of the buttons does not work
In this case, you can use the "AssistiveTouch" function. To activate it, you need to go to the "Settings" menu, then to "Basic", and then turn it on in the "Universal access" subsection.
After that you will see a floating semi-transparent round key on the smartphone's display. You can use it to perform many operations, including turning off the iPhone. When you press it, a menu appears, in which you have to select "Apparatus". If one of the buttons does not work, and the smartphone needs to turn off, then you should choose from the proposed button "Lock screen" and hold your finger on it until you see on the display a proposal to turn it off. Swipe to the right on the "Turn off" button to turn off the gadget. To turn the device on again without using the button, it is enough to connect it to a computer or put it on charge.
If the touch screen does not work
It will be quite problematic to turn off the smartphone with a non-functioning sensor, because using a swipe on the "Turn off" button will not work. Therefore, you will have to perform a forced reboot.
To do this, hold down the "Power" and "Home" buttons until the screen goes blank. Then release them immediately without waiting for the logo to appear. If you hold them too long, the device will reboot instead of shutting down.
This procedure should not be repeated often, because the memory module may fail. And all data will be lost. Use it only as a last resort when other methods do not help.
If the phone hangs up
Occasionally problems may be observed with the screen and keys at the same time. In this case, there is nothing else to do but to completely discharge the smartphone, and then connect the charger.
The most effective way is a hard reset. It allows you to revive the display in the shortest possible time. If you don't risk doing it often, you can use Apple's iTunes program, through which you can restore your gadget. You will need to connect it to your computer to do this.
When none of the methods helped to turn off the iPhone and breathe life into the sensor, then there is nothing else but to use the service center.
