All iPhone battery changes since 2007
Evolution is a word that not only applies to living things, it can safely be applied to the iPhone battery, which has changed and continues to get better and better along with the phone. The battery is, if not the heart of the iPhone, then certainly its pulse. Apple released its first iPhone back in 2007. There were so many people wishing to own a new device that they lined up in long lines on the day of the launch. This continues to happen to this day, because the quality of smartphones and their components is only improving. Let's take a retrospective look at the iPhone battery over 11 years.
iPhone Battery Characteristics
The very first iPhones, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 had lithium polymer batteries. All subsequent models were equipped with lithium polymer batteries. Such batteries are lighter, more durable and long-lasting.
Modern smartphones have a fast charging feature. The current flowing into the battery is reduced when the charge level reaches 80%. This prolongs battery life.
All machinery and its parts wear out over time. Batteries also wear out. Even after 500 charging cycles, the iPhone battery loses about 20% of its performance. If you've started charging your iPhone more often, then it's time to contact an authorized representative for a battery replacement.
How the battery life of the iPhone has changed
The evolution of the iPhone battery is not as rapid as users would like it to be. With active use of the phone (and there is no other way in today's world: available Internet, social networks and messengers), any smartphone is not able to survive longer than one day, in exceptional cases, a day and a half, but no more. At one time, Apple developers have tried to break stereotypes and released the flagship model iPhone 6 Plus with a battery that is 2 times better than the previous model, but it was not revolutionary. The battery life has not increased significantly. We can only wait for a breakthrough - the use of atomic energy in the production of the iPhone battery, for example. If you have ideas, share them in the comments, it will be interesting to hear.

The table shows that the battery capacity is not always proportional to its battery life. Prolonged operation without recharging is possible if "all the stars align in the sky": sufficient battery capacity, a power-consuming processor, optimized operation of all systems and applications, and proper use of the device by the owner.
The new battery in the iPhone XI - is it a breakthrough?
We don't know anything about the new iPhone coming out next year. We know from experience that there will be new emoji, better performance, more virtual reality games, and faster information transfer over the network. What about the battery? Maybe it will be self-healing or drastically reduced in size? Could it be powered by the sun and recharged by the power of thought? That's when we should expect a breakthrough in the technological sophistication of the new iPhones, but in the meantime - new emoji and smiley faces in the form of poop :).
How to extend the battery life of your iPhone
One of the main criteria for choosing an iPhone is its battery capacity. The more battery life a smartphone has, the more comfortable it is to use. In order to extend the battery life, Apple advises:
- Update the software. Fresh versions of iOS often contain new technologies that will affect energy costs and make them lower.
- The optimum temperature for the iPhone battery is between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius. If it gets warmer or cooler, the battery capacity decreases.
- Do not charge without the holster. The case may inhibit air circulation and therefore contribute to overheating.
- Leave half charged when storing for long periods of time with the phone turned off. Every 6 months the phone will need to be charged again on the 50%.
- Adjust the brightness of the screen. To save battery power, manually decrease screen brightness or turn off the automatic setting.
- Enable Power Saving Mode. When the battery reaches 20%, iPhone will offer to turn on the mode, in which the screen brightness will decrease, built-in animations will stop playing, some functions (AirDrop, iCloud Synchronization, Continuity) will be disabled. This can also be done manually.
- Monitor your battery usage. Under "Settings" - "Battery" displays information about the power consumption of each application. You can control this by turning off automatic updates. You need to keep track of your location and incoming notifications, which also affects battery life.
