The 10 most downloaded apps on the App Store 10 years ago

The App Store mobile app store was launched on July 10, 2008, and on July 10, 2018, it turned 10 years old. At launch, the App Store had 800 apps, but a week later, according to Apple, the total number of downloads exceeded 10 million. For the tenth anniversary of the store, CNBC recalled popular services in 2008.

CNBC remembered which paid and free apps were the most downloaded in the first year of the store. As the publication notes, Apple does not disclose the number of downloads of each service. Many of them have since disappeared from the App Store.
